This is a list of questions frequently asked by customers considering OneLink Voice service. If you have additional questions, please feel free to call our Home Office sales department at 800-556-5829.
It's easy. After you order the service, we handle the rest. We'll send you an installation kit that includes a telephone adapter for each line you order and quick-start instructions. You simply plug your phone and your DSL modem into the adapter, and you're ready to make and receive calls. If you order two lines, you can plug both phones into one adapter. (Please note that processing your order may initially take three to four weeks.)
Yes. Our service enables you to keep your current phone number if you choose. This process is also known as Local Portability, or LNP. If you choose to keep your current phone number but can't wait to get started using the service, we can also provide you with a temporary phone number while we are conducting the LNP process for you.
OneLink Voice includes a OneLink ADSL connection. This is a dedicated DSL connection that does not require a local phone line. Therefore, you are free to cancel your local phone service.
NOTE: Once you have canceled service, you will no longer be able to port this number to your OneLink Voice service, when LNP becomes available.
Yes. When users follow our installation guidelines, our network, VQ Technology and Telephone Adapter give voice calls a higher priority than data, ensuring high call quality when you surf.
Unfortunately, no. Your Telephone Adapter and voice service are configured to operate on your DSL line alone so that we can optimize the quality of all your calls and properly route 911 calls to the appropriate emergency services (see 911 Dialing). However, you can use the Remote Office feature to take your voice service with you on the road.
OneLink Voice delivers the same must-have features you probably use daily, including voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, and more . plus a full set of advanced web-based features. See all features here.
No. With the web tool, you can forward your calls to any number. Your callers will be charged the same as if you were at home. You will be charged only if you route the call from us to a number that is not included in the 48 states and 22 countries to which you can make unlimited calls.
Unlike other providers, we carry our voice service exclusively over our private, dedicated broadband network and the networks of our partners without coming anywhere near the public Internet. Your privacy is ensured.
Yes. Our network and unique VQ Technology assigns a higher priority to calls than to data, ensuring call quality. It also means normal web surfing won't affect the quality of your calls.
Yes. All calls to 911 will automatically be routed to your local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) along with your caller ID information and address (if the PSAP supports automatic address delivery).
Please Note: Traditional 911 dialing is not possible in the event of a power loss or loss of connectivity. We suggest that you keep a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) connected to your telephone adapter and DSL modem to minimize the effect of power outages on your phone service, and we recommend that you always keep a cell phone as backup for emergencies. Please review our Terms of Service carefully for details about 911 and E-911 dialing.
